"New Curriculum Reform", shorting for "Basic Education Curriculum Reform" was launched in 1999. The new curriculum provides students a new outlook on the role of teachers and their behaviors, the new concept of teaching and learning modes. Of these new concepts, the roles of teachers face great challenges. In the course of the implementation of new curriculum, many public schools, under the guidance of the Ministry of Education, are being or have been reformed according to the actual situation of their schools. They are changing the teachers' roles, forming their own teaching characteristics, developing new evaluation methods in accordance with new curriculum ideas to form a new classroom environment. The teachers'roles are changing from the original transmitters of knowledge to the facilitator of learning, education researchers, curriculum builders and developers, and student-centered teachers. Facing with such an opportunity, private school teachers are under great pressure. On the one hand, due to the special circumstances of their schools, such as the low level of teacher professionalism, overload teaching work, student enrollment problem, particularly, the unique characteristics of students, and so on. The teachers have great difficulties in the implementation of new curriculum; on the other hand, the instability of private teachers, low treatment of teachers, etc., is challenging the new roles of teachers. This paper starts from the discussion of role theory, by reviewing the traditional teachers'roles and the roles of modern teachers at home and abroad, we position the English teachers'roles under new curriculum should be education researchers, partners in learning, researchers for good classroom atmosphere, teaching Patterns of mental health of persons and mentor students. By investigation and analysis of part of private school teachers in Zhongshan City, we made a conclusion that teachers lack of ideas and behaviors in the process of implementing the new curriculum. We also analyzed the factors that influence the transformation of teachers'roles. They are the roles of English teachers, students'difficulties and special school system, and summed up the strategies to promote private school English teachers' roles during the process of implementation of the new curriculum in Zhongshan City.In this paper, I mainly use questionnaires, interviews, classroom observation and other research methods. By investigating the teachers'views on the Language Teaching, teaching methods and teaching materials with the three methods, I made a conclusion on the transformation of teachers'beliefs. By investigating the teachers moral construction, innovation, cooperation, and evaluation, I made a conclusion on the transformation of teachers'behaviors. And I give suggestions on the weakness of teachers'teaching and education beliefs, low profession level, the low level of scientific research and poor ability on cooperation.Through research we found that the transformation of the teachers'roles requires the efforts of the teachers, the schools and all sectors of society. It will also need some time to achieve conversion in the teaching practice.
