Clan Organizations And Grass-roots Governance Analysis

Clan organizations, which connected by blood tie, had existed in China for thousands of years, though it waned for several times in the history, it revived time and again, clan organizations played an very important role in the rural government. After the foundation of new China, clan organizations suffered a devastating blow from the government, all its outer symbols was forbidden, but it remained and working as a potential way, so, when the government loosen its macro controls on rural, the clan activities started to revive. Why this happen and how to deal with this phenomenon reasonably is very significant for the new rural construction and the stability of rural social order.This paper take Clan patriarchal systems as theoretical perspective, combined the former scholar's practical researches and my investigation taken in Hunan Province, to analysis the effect and influence of clan organizations in rural government, how the village cadres deal with the relations with clan organizations during their work, trying to tell the development tendency and direction of clan organizations in rural communities, which will benefit a lot for the rural democratization construction.
