The solid geometry is one of the most essential contents in high school mathematics , which is on the base of plane geometry knowledge. The solid geometry further studies the relationship among the geometric figure spot, the line and the surface including the drawing techniques, the nature, the calculation and the application.The solid geometry is the focus of high school mathematics and also one of the difficult contents in mathematics studying.The reason is that students are often puzzled by concrete problems in the solid geometry learning.But what is the condition of the confidence when students learning the solid geometry? To what extent can they understand the basic concepts? How about their ability of grasping the figures, geometrical direct view and space imagination and logical reasoning? How about their application in the mathematical thoughts and methods involved in the solid geometry, for example, the thought of motion change, the thought of conversion, the thought of analogy and so on? What's the obstacle for the students when learning the solid geometry?This paper surveyed 169 students of a certain high school in Shanghai in the form of questionnaire survey and test paper.Through the survey, the students are divided into different levels by solo classification. And the results showed there are some problems in learning the solid geometry for students:The students'psychological obstacle inside leads to some difficulty in learning the solid geometry;The lack of students'space imagination leads to the difficulty in identifying, recognizing and drawing figures;The students'logical obstacle leads to poor expression including word language, figure language and their conversion ; The students cannot apply the mathematics thoughts and methods smartly because of the poor understanding of mathematics thoughts and methods, and the logical obstacle in solving the problems as well.According to the problems above, some pieces of suggestion are listed for teaching plane geometry:Stimulate the students'desire for learning by using some cases, thus arousing the study interest;Develop the student'space imagination ability gradually which starts from the form of representation by geometrical direct view and develops in self-application, and ends in the ability of grasping the whole figure;Develop the student'understanding of the basic concepts and improve the students'logical thinking;Put more emphasis on the teaching of mathematical thoughts and methods, thus achieving the goal to improve the students'mathematical thinking such as imaginal thinking and logical thinking and so on.
