The solid geometry is recognized as one of the most crucial elements in mathematics all the time in high school. Although, the content, system and structure of solid geometry have changed many times in previous mathematics curriculum reforms, it always take an important role in mathematics. The main reason is that it has a great effect on fostering students’ ability in mathematics, and it is meaningful and valuable for education at the same time. Therefore, it is a key point for students to comprehensively grasp and understand solid geometry during the study of mathematics in high school. The acquisition and understanding of knowledge in mathematics is decided by exercises at a great extent. Therefore, the study of solid geometry can not be separated from solving the solid geometry problems. Obviously, it is important to use mathematical thinking method, which is the essence of mathematics, in solving solid geometry problems. It can simplify the problems and overcome the difficulties in solving problems if we can apply mathematical thinking method in a rational way. It can be said the mathematical thinking method is the source of wisdom in solving solid geometry problems.Is it necessary for students to take the mathematical thinking method as the guidance in solving the problems of solid geometry? Is it necessary for teachers to permeate mathematical thinking method in solid geometry teaching? It is important to realize the significance of mathematical thinking method in solid geometry problem-solving, which is helpful to normalize the form of solving problems for students and to optimize the structure of teaching for teachers.In conclusion, this paper will focus on elaborating the significance of mathematical thinking method in solving the problems of solid geometry. Firstly, the questionnaire is designed on the basis of the principles of logicality, popularity, clarity, and intentionality of questionnaire designing. It is about factors that influence the effect of solving solid geometry problems, and students in three high schools are asked to complete the questionnaires. Then the effective questionnaires are picked out and data are collected. Finally, the statistical analysis of obtained data is proposed. The multiple linear regression analysis for test scores of solid geometry is carried out, as well as the statistical diagrams about the efficient of mathematical thinking method are designed using the MATLAB software. The statistical results demonstrated that, comparing other influences (e.g. the reserves of knowledge, experiences, psychological quality), the mathematical thought is the most critical factor in solid geometry problem-solving. It also can take a pivotal role in improving the efficiency and accuracy of solving solid geometry problems, and reducing the difficulty of the subject.
