The knowledge of derivative plays an important role in student study. Taking this course can help students to promote their self-inquiry, reflection ideas, and it is also a basic tool to the problem of variables and a solid foundation for high school students to learn mathematic and other subjects. Therefore, how to teach and learn derivative becomes an important topic for further study. In the new situation, a reasonable teaching strategy to effectively organize the teaching of new content becomes very urgent. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the difficulties encountered by students during their learning of "Derivative and Its Properties" to develop an appropriate teaching strategy to improve student learning.Firstly, this paper summarizes the theory of "Derivative and Its Applications ", identifying the difficulties with regards to the learning of "Derivative and Its Properties" are the difficulties that encountered by the normal intelligence students who pass the high school entrance exam including the understanding of the concept and formula, the application of the derivative. These difficulties lead to the problem of acknowledgement of derivative problems, the weakness of the use of derivative and calculus knowledge to solve problems, and bad academic performance. This paper employs the form of questionaire to investigate the students'understanding of "Derivative and Its Applications". Through research this paper found that the learning difficulties in that part of knowledge is mainly:(1)The understanding of the concept.(2)understanding and remembering the formula.(3)Poor flexibility in the use of knowledge.(4)Difficulties of knowledge transfer(5)The comprehension of mathematical symbolsChapter five analize the difficulty students learning " Derivative and its derivative nature " :First, poor comprehension of the subject of mathematics;second, poor perception of mathematics; Third, poor quality of mathematics learning psychology; fourth,poor understanding of the basic knowledge.this paper developed the corresponding teaching strategies.(1) Before class, teachers explain the historical knowledge and significance of calculus to cultivate interests and draw attention.(2) Emphasize the concept forming process and explain the meaning of concept.(3) Concentrate on the link between knowledge and consolidate the basic knowledge.(4)Teach students how to use the appropriate way to learn and improve flexibility in the use of knowledge.(5) Emphasis on the role and significance of mathematical symbols.(6) Enhance the education of mathematical thinking, get rid of rote memorization, rigid application of methods to do problems.
