Knowledge Map Construction

Knowledge is gradually replaced by physical capital with the development of information & network technology, and becoming the decisive factor for an entity in the competition. And organizations need to manage and integrate the dominant as well as recessive knowledge, and internal and external knowledge. Knowledge Mapping is an effective knowledge management tool, this visualization technology can navigate and organize the knowledge and knowledge holder. It also can classify the levels of knowledge, to display the distribution of knowledge resources, to reveal the correlation between knowledge and knowledge holder. It can provide the possibility for sharing, utilization, innovation of knowledge, and enhance organizational competitiveness.In this thesis, with the thorough research comparison and analysis on existing methods of setting up a knowledge map, it reveals the connotation and character of the knowledge map. In view of problems and disadvantages of organizing knowledge in knowledge-intensive entities such universities, we introduce the importance and necessities of using knowledge management in scientific research area. Using expert opinions, case interview and field survey to make the deep reach on knowledge mapping about its basic theory and applications. We carried out field reach on a university in Kunming, and had done the completion of knowledge classification, list the actual demand of knowledge in most of the post in it and establish the databases, integrated theory with practice on introducing the knowledge management in scientific teaching in college. With the acquisition, integration of organizations to existing knowledge resources, the post knowledge chart is provided to display present knowledge distribution. This can show the dominant and recessive knowledge, to improve the efficiency of managing an entity. Based on the positive analysis, The thesis also provide 2 methods to form knowledge chart, could be used as reference to the relevant follow-up study.
