Nanjing Elderly In Community And Social Support

The study object of this paper is the old people living in the community of Nanjing. Through descriptive analysis and correlative analysis, the author hopes to widely and deeply know the present basic situation and characters of old people's social support in the city, as well as to give some references for other cities.The thesis is organized as following. In part 1, the study issue, objectives and significances are presented. Part 2 is about documents summarize, such as old people, social support, social support for old people and experienced study. Part 3 briefly introduces the study method. Part 4 analyzes the study outcomes through three-dimension (economic support, daily life care, spirit support) and the two-dimension (formal support and informal support) methods. The conclusions are: the total social supports are high and the old people feel satisfied; informal supports (especially family support) are still on the main and different supporters have different roles; there is a "wealth flow" from old parents to young people in family support net and their relation tends to equal; government and community supports are more and more important; kinds of elements participate in supporting old people and in some ways formal and informal resources combine each other; The last part are the suggestions to strengthen social support system for old people in the city in sense ,system, service and so on .
