With the increasing of consumers' appeal for the safety of nutrition in foodstuff, quality-guarantee has become the focus of public's attention. Many academic researches also devoted substantive work in many fields regarding its development, and put forward many constructive approach and suggestions. However, research on the aspect of food producers has been seen very limited. Food producers are posted on the top of the food chain, and play a primary role in guaranteeing the safety of food. Thus one takes its view of this thesis, and attempts an innovational study on the behaviors of food producers for outputting food with quality and safety. The thesis contains five sections. The first section describes the background and significance of this research, as well as introducing the major contents covered. The second section reviews literatures of producer behavior theory from both home and abroad. Particularly, it indicates the farmer's behaviors, and other related factors. Therefore, a presentation of existing studies and their outcomes on food producer are incorporated in this section. And furthermore, the researcher gives a brief comment on them.At the beginning of section three, it gives the definition of several key concepts, and goes on to describe the current situation that food producers have been facing. Then it introduces the fact of government regulations regarding the emergence of food quality and safety problems, also points out the deficiency of them.Section four is the most important section, which includes chapter four, five and six. Chapter four suggests a quality and safety behavior model of food producer based on theories of planned behavior and literatures about farmer behavior. It is the idea of how producers conduct their behaviors regarding food quality and safety. Then researcher designs the methodology of this study. Chapter five introduces how the survey on farm is carried out. And with SPSS, it gives a descriptive statistic analysis based 324 samples. Through correlation analysis, it tests the efficiency of antecedent, mediating, and outcome variables in the model. This paper also employs factor analysis to reduce variables, which concentrates 10 external factors into 3 main factors which influences farmer's attitude, goal and perceived behavior control, respectively the consequences of expected benefit, the degree attached to industrialization, and the external environment. Chapter six conceive an econometric model on the foundation of the model based on the assumption, and applies a logistic regression along with multinomial linear regression to analyzing the relationship among those variables and validate hypotheses.Section five is the last chapter of this paper. It draws some conclusions based on the foregoing empirical study. The result could be useful to both academic and practical administration on food safety in their advocacy of the conduct of quality safety behavior.
