Container Terminal Price Management

The freight relating to carriage by water which acts as a lever in port and shipping corporation plays a important role in balancing interests of each terminal industry . Fee of containers in terminal is a important element among the system of freight relating to carriage by water. Therefore, a valid and definite THC may promote enhancement of the profit of carriage by water and attract more ships calling at the port and more goods coming to the port .because THC touches on terminal enterprise's and other shipping companies' interests. THC also is helpful to enhance the profit of carriage by water and the ability to reclaim by magnifying capacity of loading and discharging goods .At present harbor corporation in China is changing from unification of the government and corporation to separation of corporation away from the government. The external environment of corporation is also changing. The mode under which the government managed the corporation cannot adapt to the development of harbor corporation. As reforming of the system of the harbor is deepening, harbor corporation including terminal containers corporation will really go to the market. Harbor corporation will become an independent economical corporate. Because the fee of harbor and terminal corporation acts as a main source of income of harbor corporation, how to govern harbor and terminal corporation is especially important.However, currently the system of freight of carriage by water including terminal system of the price cannot adapt to the demand of changing environment, because management is indefinite and invalid. The harbor corporation itself is so week to control the running of price that in a sense self-development under self-management and competitive environment is greatly affected. Thus it has attracted some harbor corporations and other departments concerned attraction.This dissertation begins with the charge of harbor and terminal and their mode of management of price in combination of the orientation of reforming in China. The author also makes practical research into the strategy of management, mode, the system of price and mode of running corporation in foreign countries and compares them with some issues relating to them in China. On the basis of analyzing them, the author renders some suggestion with respect to management of price.In the course of research this paper discusses classification and role of the terminal charge, and analyzes issues relating to them and main elements of terminal charge management on the basis of the theory; Secondly on the basis of practice the author deals with the making-price system which adapts to modern terminal management system in China.
