| Since the recovery of the property insurance operation in 1980 in China, the Chinese property insurance industry has been making great progress . The supply sides,market scale and asset amount all face a delighting increase or growth. The concentration ratio, barriers to entry has been making a little descend and the service of the property insurance company has been making some moderate progress. However, the concentration ratio and the barriers to entry of the Chinese property insurance industry are too high obviously. The difference of the insurance service is on the low level. The market share of the three largest insurance companies is 95.8%,which is much higher than that of the west country. There are many restraints for national enterprise to enter property insurance industry, such as the high capital, mode of the organization, the character of the capital and so on. The high concentration ratio is due to the high barriers to entry. So that the performance of the market structure is very poor.The profit margin of the property insurance is much higher than that of the banking industry, which indicates the dispose rate of the property insurance is too low. The varieties of property insurance are so few, that the live supply is too little. Besides, the growth speed of the property industry is too low ,despite of being a new industry.We have to think over the root of the malady of the property insurance market. We should reflect not only the present situation of the property insurance market, but also the tendency of it. With the very thought, we think that we can not reveal the problem if we have not conducted approach it. We think ,the market structure is the most important to research a estate. The theory frame of the thesis is the industrial organization theory,utilizing the theoretical analyses,positivistic methodologies and comparative analyses.The research rout is: to understanding the phenomenon of monopoly and competition and the direction of the reformation of the Chinese property insurance market ,we should analysis the market structure of property insurance by exerting the industrial organization theory. The object of our research is to optimize the arrangement of the property insurance resource. In the light of the rout, we submit the notion and the field of research of the market structure first and elicit the field and the value of research of the property insurance market; Then we research the three factors which affect the property insurance market :the concentration ratio, the difference of property insurance service and the barriers to entry. Then we analyze the present situation, the causation, the influence and the trend in future of the Chinese property insurance market. At last, we generalize the performance of the Chinese property insurance market and raise the develop direction of the Chinese property insurance market structure.The resume of the property insurance market structure is the starting point of my article. First, we introduce the industrial organization theory and the research field of property insurance market. Second, we submit the value and the contents to research the property insurance market according to the industrial organization theory. This part is the theory foundation to my article. In Chapter Two we analyse the concentration ratio of the property insurance market .First, we review the mechanism and the present state of the Chinese property insurance market. Second, we inductive the notion of the concentration ratio and analyze the ratio of the Chinese property insurance market. We think the concentration ratio is declining gradually, but it is much higher than that of the insurance market of developed countries. Third, we raise the factor which influence the concentrationratio and the develop trend of the Chinese property insurance market.
