The value in science is one of the significant interactive bridges between science and the general value purpose of human beings. Clarifying the value in science contributes to the humanistic comprehension of science. The dissertation studies systematically the value in science from several perspectives (e.g. its intension, its structure, its function, and the value permeation in science). The history of understanding of the relationship between value and science can be roughly divided into three periods. The so-called value in science refers to value factors, which permeate into scientific activities and scientific knowledge systems in way of the subjects of scientific activities, having the features of subject inlermediateness, systematicness, and implicitness. Value factors penetrate into every moment of the process of scientific activities and its products. Value in science could tentatively be categorized from various angles. The existence of value in science has irreplaceable epistemological, methodological, dynamic meanings us well as meanings of behavioral norms in scientific cognition activities.
