Shaanxi Zheng Creation And Development

Guzheng, a type of Chinese traditional musical instrument, originated in Qin and Han Dynasty and gradually spread from northwest China to all over the country. It syncretised with the local opera, speak and sing, folk-music and formed a variety of genres with very strong local styles. Traditional guzheng can be divided into North and South genres and nowadays it can be also categorised into nine major genres. Each genre of guzheng music and its playing styles has different characteristics. Among them, the guzheng music from Shaanxi is very unique and spread much widely.This project is mainly based on the analysis of features of composition of Shaanxi's guzheng music, in detail, the creative features of Shaanxi's guzheng music with adoption of unique folk-opera such as Qinqiang, Wanwanqiang, happy tone and sad tone, according to the characteristic of composition from Xi'an Ancient Drum, combined with study of real cases of musical score of Shaanxi's guzheng. In addition, through the study of composition techniques of guzheng music of Shaanxi, some of the unique creative techniques, for instance, the use of quick digital sequence of right hand, the accompaniment of other musical instruments in guzheng music, showing that the creation and development of the guzheng music of Shaanxi have great influence and promotion for the creation of modern guzheng music, encourage the guzheng musical composers innovating continuously and breaking through the tradition bravely to make this tradition musical instrument more expressive and the form of guzheng music more modern.
