Qiuci is seated at Silk Road of the Western Regions, which plays a part of the bridge in the east movement of the Buddhism. With the development of Buddhism in Qiuci, large numbers of grotto temples have been cut, which Kizil Grottoes is the very work. Kizil Grottoes is on a grand scale and saved relatively complete. There are 236 extant grottoes which have been numbered,and most of josses in the grotto have been broken:But a large number of murals having plenty content are conserved in part of grottoes.In these beautiful murals, the most fascinating one is Jataka mural. These visual and lively Jataka stories murals which have plenty content and excellent skill provides precious information for the research of the grotto art and shows unique art results which perfectly integrate Western Regions Art and Buddhist Art.Kizil Grottoes'Jataka stories murals have unique feature of exoticism. Looking out the skill of the line, there have the line drawing which like curly wires and the "concave scribed line" which combines with sculptural arts. Focusing on the methods of dyeing, there have "Ping Tu painting dyeing" from the central plains of China and the "concave-convex dyeing" influenced by Indian murals. These various brushwork combine with each other to make the mural livelier and agility. Murals' tonality is simple and unsophisticated and massiness, which present abundant and changeful color effect after thousands of years.Rhombic single composition is one of the main manifestation modes of Kizil Grottoes'Jataka stories murals, which have bright regionally feature. This mode is so unique in Buddhism murals art that catches everybody's eye. The figurines of murals which base on the indigenous cultures are far-reaching impact by Gandhara cultures, Mathura cultures, Ajanta Caves and Persia cultures. The mural is researched and discussed in aspects of composition evolution, line and color, figurines, subject matter, period divide, times background, artistic achievement, and so on. The artistic skill which integrates Art History and Buddhist Art has been attempted to complete analyze the artistic style of the Kizil's Jataka stories murals. This way of casting a brick to attract jade may bring a lot of fresh inspiration for Chinese figure painting.
