| The murals in the Kizil Caves are of much outstanding academic value in many ways. According to my own research and focusing on my own direction in painting, this paper selects the composition of the Kizil mural as the starting point of analysis and expands beyond.Limited by space, it is rare to find many figures and the coexistence of various uses of color in cave murals. Kizil murals clearly excel in such area. The orderly styling, the unified tone and bright color, show the central theme of murals while not seemingly chaotic. The ancient kingdom of Kucha was an important relay center for spreading Buddhism. It is also a linkage of the mural arts of similar time and space. The Kizil murals found there perfectly integrated the painting styles from India, Iran, Gandhara, and so on. In addition, they have deep influence on the later Chinese painting arts in the central plain.In my analysis on Kizil murals, the importance of thematic background on painting is explored. This gives me many new ideas and breakthrough in my creative work. Kizil murals focus on the spiritual needs of the people at the time. The painting style is also a combination and development of multiple area. Concerning our own creative work, maybe we should consider the spiritual need of the people of our time in our painting. |
