The study found that positive emotions broadens attention, but these studies are basically low-approach positive emotions, such as amusement, happy and so on.Since the high-approach positive emotional desire, will make the organisms shut out irrelevant stimuli as they approach desired objects. High approach-motivated positive emotions and low approach-motivated positive emotions might be have the different impact on the breadth of attention. Two studies examined the attention consequences of approach-motivated positive emotion. The results show that:in the Eriksen flanker task, which asked the subject attend to a central target and ignore irrelevant flanking distracters.High approach-motivated positive emotions processing on the central letter task faster than the low approach-motivated positive emotions processing task on the central letter. Increased attention breadth would be reflected in a decreased capacity to inhibit processing of spatially adjacent irrelevant information, the response to central target letters will be slow down; On the contrary, decreased attention breadth would be reflected in a increased capacity to inhibit processing of spatially adjacent irrelevant information, the response to central target letters will be faster.high approach-motivated positive emotions reduces the global bias, which reduces the breadth of attention, but low approach-motivated positive emotions broadens attention. In the Navon letters task, high approach-motivated positive emotions compared with neutral emotion, high approach-motivated positive emotions response to local stimulus faster than under neutral emotional response to local stimulus, which means that high approach-motivated positive emotions narrowed the breadth of attention. Therefore, a positive emotions impact the breadth of attention, the relationship of the positive emotions and the breadth of attention is influence by its own level of approach-motivated, high approach-motivated positive emotions reduces the the breadth of attention, low approach-motivated positive emotions broadens the the breadth of attention. The same valence emotion impact on the attention is completely different. The theory significance of the study:Enrich understand the impact of positive emotion on cognition.High approach-motivated positive emotions reduces the the breadth of attention, low approach-motivated positive emotions broadens the the breadth of attention. From the angle of the evolution theory, enrich understand the positive emotions.Enrich understand the relationship of emotion and motivation. The practice significance of the study:When the pilot operated the machine, regulate the emotion to the request to reduce or broaden breadth of attention. In web design applications often require to get the attention of visitors, the web content of the arrangement can also refer to the research results. The innovation of research:(1)The discussion of different levels of approach-motivated positive emotions impact the attention, which is different from the traditionally different valence only study of the effects on attention, consider the emotional dimensions of the motivation of the directional (and approach to the object or withdraw).(2) Different levels of approach-motivated positive emotions impact on the attention the first time using lateral inhibition task Eriksen flanker task, the response of the central task of slowing down the letters that the letters were tested for the processing side, that means broadens attention.the response of the central letter task faster and with fewer side letter that the interference, that means reduces the the breadth of attention.
