This thesis takes the Vimalakirti-Nivdesa Sutra(维摩诘所说经)which translated by Jiumoluoshi as reseach object. By applying not only synchronic description and analyses but diachronic and comparative study as well methods to research the double-syllable words.The author expects excavate its research value and significance.I hope that This thesis could make some contributions to the construction of history of Chinese lexicon.This thesis is mainly divided into five parts,1:Introduction.It include not only introduction of Jiumoluoshi and the Vimalakirti-Nivdesa Sutra but also the research aim and methods.2:To analyze the double-syllable words from diachronic aspect.To make sure the time of double-syllable words by using the Grand Dictionary of Chinese Language.3: To analyze the form of double-syllable words.To mainly analyze7types:coordinate compounds,subordinate compounds,verb-object compounds,subject-predicate compounds, verb-supplementary compounds,affixations,reduplications.4:To reseach the vocabulary about Buddhism. Classification according to semantics and translation mode. 5: To reseach the vocabulary about different translations of the same Buddhist scripture.Taking the Chinese translations of Buddhist scripture which translated by Jiumoluoshi,Zhiqian and Xuanzhan as reseach objects to make sure the meanings of some words.
