The research object in this paper is the Weibei calligraphy during the Pingcheng period in Northern Wei Dynasty. Author give a brief account to the Weibei calligraphy and try to explore the origins of Weibei calligraphy during Pingcheng period. Full-text is divided into four parts, the first is the Introduction, is mainly related the review of the extensive studies. The second is use specific data and literature information to collation the weibei calligraphy during Pingcheng Period. In the third part,the author analyse the characteristics and types of Weibei calligraphy during Pingcheng Period.The characteristic of the Weibei calligraphy is between official script and regular script. Author divided the specific calligraphy into two kinds,official-regular script and regular-official script. and make a brief introduction to the two kinds of calligraphy works. The forth is analyse with the relationship of calligraphy between the Sixteen kingdoms Period and Luoyang Period and discuss the origins of Weibei calligraphy during Pingcheng Period. The author found there was a official-regular script of Northern Liang style which is significantly affected by Liangzhou calligraphy (Northern Liang calligraphy)in Sixteen kingdoms Period in analysing the origins of the Weibei calligraphy during Pingcheng Period. In the early stage of the Luoyang Period, the calligraphy of Longmen Grottoes inscription and Mangshan epitaph are affected by Weibei calligraphy in Pingcheng Period.In the latter stage of the Luoyang Period, Weibei calligraphy are primary affected by the Southern calligraphy.Doucument research and calligraphy research are the primary methods in this paper.According to use specific data and literature information to collation the Weibei calligraphy, author with a view to conduct a more systematic study of calligraphy during Pingcheng Period.
