Integration And Separation Of The Two Cultures Trend

The development of science and humanism has been experiencing the process of unite to divide in modern history. Scientism, a philosophy trend of thought formed in the process of development of science, which believes that natural science is the only scientific knowledge and the only way for efficiently gaining knowledge is the natural scientific method, and its pattern can be attached and used in all regions and cultures and solve every kind of issues we are facing with. Scientism has profound influence on eastern and western world in both academic and practical ways.This paper attampts to criticize Scientism from the backgroud of the collision of "two cultures"—science and humanism by analysing its background and process of the formation and practical rationality and disadvantages. The only way of overcoming series of social and moral problems and human existence crises and promoting the harmonious development of human civiliation is to impluse dialogue and integration between two cultures.
