In The Writings Of The Chinese Scholars, The British Marxist Historical Research (1980-2009)

The British Marxist Historical School has an important position in international historiography. Since 1980s, historians in mainland China began to study it. During this period, the scholars introduced this school initially.The relevant achievements were based on articles. By the late 1980s, a Chinese scholar—Song Ruizhi introduced this School focusedly in his book Western Historiography but had no further research. In the 1990s, with the close communication between China and western on history, scholars in mainland China study this School further.They comprehensively studied its development and specially studied its representative historians—Thomposon and Hobsbawms.In the late 1990s, in the book A New Exploration of Marxist historiography writtern by Yu Pei and Chen Qineng, the writers raised some questions about the research of this School, which was good at expanding the research vision on this topic. Scholars had a special chapter to study this School in these works during this period, for example, 80 years The Western history in 1980s,Contemporary Western Schools,Modern Western history and so on. The scholars studied this School detailedly but the research clue was not actively. Since the 21st century, the scholars have deepened the research of this School. Some scholars such as Liang Minsu has published some articles with new perspective and multi level to study it. Some scholars in their works studied this School focusedly, such as Clio From The West: Eastern Echoes To Western Historiography,The Feed Of Classic Western History Works,Contemporary Western Historiography,The History Of Western History,Theories And Schools Of Western History,The 20th Century Western Historiography and so on.May 2009,the book Marxist Theory And Practice——Hobsbawm's Historical Research writtern by Liang Minsu was published. By far, it is the first book to study Hobsbawm's history ideology and it is the first special work to study this School.But during this period,the scholars didn't studied other historians of this School, which was the less research of it.From 1980s to 2009, scholars in mainland China have obtained many achievements on studying this School, which should be affirmed. But there are some questions appeared.For example,the scholars have not studied the whole historians of this School, focusing on studying Thompson and Hobsbawm;The works writtern by historians of this School have been translated incompletely;The same problem has been studied repeatly and so on. In all, comprehensively studying this School has not formed.This article summarizes the the scholars' achievements about this School in the past 30 years, using the historiography style to analysize the research contents of this School in relevant works, concluding the characteristics of the achievements on this School at last.
