The contemporary Korean master painter Kin Ki Chang has closely combined modern and traditiona J art and created the"Foolish Green and Blue Landscape Painting Style".His works use modern means of artistic expression and combine the simplicity of foIk art,natural appeal,while transmitting a strong traditionaI charm.and reflecting the harmony between mankind and nature and animals.This dissertation wilI try to explore,through researching Kin Ki Chang's representative work,the bulf series of paintings,the process of formation of Kin Ki Chang's art style and its effects on contemporary Korean art circles.The main aim of this dissertation iS to research the',blue and green landscape painting"within the"foolish painting style."Blue and green Iandscape painting iS not 1ust the result of drawing from nature but a kind of product of the mind.Blue and green landscape painting iS a painting stvle with unique Korean characteristics.It Often contains oxen and children wearing white clothes,which iS Kin Ki Chang's particular way of representing Korean emotions.Oxen are a symboI of Korea and white clothes are Korea's most traditionaI clothes.Everything Kin Ki Chang depicts iS a kind of ideaI rural scene which expresses the feeling of returning to nature.Finally,1 wilI discuss a famous Chinese painter,Li Ke Ran,who focuses on cows,and try to seek out the similarities and differences between the two artists,and through this discover and Iearn about the points which iIluminate their art.
