"Church" and "state" belong to social ideology, and since the advent of the both, each of them have functioned upon each other in a long period in history. The closest relationship between "church" and "state" can be called "caesaropapism"The mainstream of modern state advocates "the separationality of church and state", however, "church" has exerted a profound effect on state, and almost every country has been affected by church. This fact makes it valuable in theory and practice to study "caesaropapism".The dissertation analyses the internal mechanism of "the unification of the state and the church", and points out that, from "integrationality of sate and chruch", "theocratic system" to "state church"-dominant "caesaropapism", the progressive course is also a practice through which "state" and "church" have been integrated from soul to skeleton. In the early period, "church" and "political culture" was united in a comprehensive level;then, "church" and "power" kept a tension between both complementation and competition.Modern political cavitations initiate science and rationality, combating "church" intervene in political life excessively. Nevertheless, due to human's belief and intertance of the institution, "church" has permeated itself into modern social life and political activities. The tradition and conception of "caesaropapism" has been well-established, and "church" and "state" have been combined mainly in ethical aspects, in other words, "church" has affects politics assignably. In essence, "religious rationality" and "state rationality" doesn't collide with each other, and both of them are incorporated in ethics.Modern society needs integrate the conception of religion, and modern political civilizations need balance religious factors.
