"Belief seeks rationality"is not only a philosophical itself important proposition raise up by Anselmus ( middle ages schoolmen philosopher ), but also becomes the core subject and basic principle in middle ages Christian philosophy. From this article opinion,"belief seeks rationality"this proposition related to the following main field:First, the proposition raised up, the most reality and impending reason obviously is the intension issue"how to deal with theology and philosophy", because the initial conflict between theology and philosophy is"how to operate belief and rationality harmoniously". Therefore the relationship between theology and philosophy is the background and start point of this proposition:Second, the meaning of this proposition mainly divided into two parts, they are the priority of belief and necessity of philosophical reason, this indirectly announces the answer of the first question, means theology is higher than philosophy anyway. As a result, this proposition must be the one for the Christian philosophy, and can not be the previous proposition of the Christian philosophy. It only can be"belief seeks rationality", it can not be"rationality and than belief";Third, for the best explanation of this proposition, representation at Anselmus discriminate discuss"God existing"etc philosophical problem, representation at middle ages Christian philosophers proof the ancient Greek philosophical succession reason. These proofs show how reason ability comply with the faith.Finally, we will see, the philosophical affect of this proposition after the middle ages, it will related to the basic endeavor of the modern philosophers.
