Johann Sebastian Bach(1685-1750)was one of the important representatives of music in the 18th century. In the 18th century, when the religious atmosphere was still strong,Bach created a large number of great and devout religious music. However, among many religious music, some musical works actually went beyond the scope of religion, injecting many secular emotions into his creations, which is also the beauty of Bach’s music. This article is divided into three chapters. The first chapter mainly discusses the social environment at that time and the impact of Bach’s personal experience on his music creation,as well as the reasons for the formation of secular music style; The second chapter analyzes the secular characteristics of the French Suite BWV812 from three aspects:theme motivation, rhythm, and structure; The third chapter analyzes the key points that need to be paid attention to when playing the "French Suite" BWV812 from four aspects:touch key and vocal level, decorative tone processing, speed and strength, and improvisation based on the author’s own performance practice.Bach has created three sets of secular keyboard suites. The French Suite studied in this article is one of the most distinctive works, which skillfully integrates polyphonic techniques with different folk dances.Although the length is short, how to correctly grasp the style of keyboard works of that era and the stylistic characteristics of the works itself is worth our in-depth exploration.
