The Flute In Chamber Music, The Sound Changes

Flute is a kind of instruments with charming and wonderful sound which be used widely both in the orchestra music and the chamber music. Because of its woodwind timbre, flute can perform not only with the brass instruments but also perform with the string instruments in chamber music. How do the performers alter the timbre of flute to let the music more harmonious? The timbre is a terminology that is difficult to delimit for it has so many characters, so that it is more useful to expound the purpose and the methods to the flute's timbre-changing. This thesis analyzes such question that why and how to change the flute timbre in chamber music performance from two aspects—the Acoustics and the Musical Psychology.
