Liu Xiang, "new Order" To Study Three Questions

XinXu is a story collection compiled by Liu Xiang in Han dynasty. The research for the book has mainly been focused on its ideological content, its character, artistic features, but there is the lack of systematic and deep study on its literature sources and stylistic feature. Besides, those who studied XinXu did not pay enough attention to the quoting mode and comments in texts. The writer of this article selects three topics --- literature sources (the quoting mode), the comments in texts and style, and make some further exploration by studying the texts deeply. This paper is made up of four chapters, including a prologue and three chapters.The prologue mainly introduces Liu Xiang?s family and all his life, which are closely related to Liu Xiang?s works.The content of Chapter I is about the literature study. The writer analyzes the way of XinXu?s quoting from Confucian classics, history and philosophy carefully, and investigates the relationship between literature sources and the nature of the book to provide powerful empirical support for such a view on XinXu which is considered to be compiled by Liu Xiang.In Chapter II, the writer focuses the point on evaluation study. At present, few people did the work of doing special studies about the consultative sections after each chapter story. Compared carefully with XinXu?s literature sources, we can find that the consultative paragraphs is the right deliberate parts for Liu Xiang, so from these parts, we can restore out his original intention of editing. The writer in this chapter conducts the classified research to its appraisal way, and analyzes Liu Xiang's some ideas from it.The study of the style is the main content of Chapter III. There are some different views about XinXu?s style. It was classified as a prose, a ficton, or miscellaneous history or biographies, and some may think that it is non-subclass , non-history, non-fiction. In this part, the writer inspects the Origin of XinXu?s style–Happenings and comments,and Chu Shuo, thus classifies XinXu as Saying style, and points out that Shi Yu, Chu Shuo and it consist the transition form from historical and biographical text to the fiction, and analyzes its style characteristics and its impact on the later fiction from its narrative art.Therefore, this article makes thematic discussions on XinXu from three different angles, in order to achieve future exploration on the basis of previous studies.
