Music education in the dynasties of Xia, Shang and Zhou ran through school education. During the three dynasties, music education was neither simply imparted orally nor exclusively for cultivating the temperament. It was an systematic, purposeful and comprehensive subject imparted by professional instructors, which intended to support the rules' rule, standardize etiquettes and make people sensible. The content included various respects, such as the code of ethics, religious beliefs and skills training. Taking the teaching system of the three dynasties before Qin, consulting other related data, and based on the methods of literature retrieval, analysis and comparison, the paper explored and examined music education to try to reconstruct the real situation of music education in school as much as possible during this period. |
