Shanghai is the most modern and international metropolis of China. There are 27 international schools in Shanghai by end of Y2010. The typical American international schools include SAS (Shanghai American School), LAS (Livingston American School), CISS (Concordia International School Shanghai) and SCIS (Shanghai Community International School).On the one hand, with subjective angle of a middle school music teacher and also a graduate student of music education, this paper explores the vision, objective and course contents of the four Shanghai American international schools. On the other hand, with objective angle, it focuses on education objective, music education objective and course requirement by comparison between American international school and Chinese school. Furthermore, the study of in-class-education, course setup, music environment building-up, interaction between school and home education, metrics setup and benchmark, and internet music education inside international school can be highly recognized as a reflection to China on-going music education course re-form.
