The Culture Of Yangzhou And Yangzhou Urban Modernization Study

As a developing concept, Yangzhou culture is concerned by more and more Yangzhou citizens and scholars of home and abroad. With the construction of cultural expo city, it has become a hotspot phenomenon. However, many people's interests in Yangzhou culture only concerns with the surface level, such as urban landscape, social customs, salt merchants'culture, garden construction and historical sites. So, the research of Yangzhou culture and urban modernization is a subject that needs to be further discussed.This article is established on the basis of Marxism in the setting of times to reveal the relationship between Yangzhou culture and Yangzhou urban modernization by using the theories of harmonious society and urban modernization. The frame of this article is as follows: in the fist part, first of all, the development of Yangzhou culture is summarized according to two main lines–time and region. Then, the connotation of Yangzhou culture and urban modernization is defined, and the present situation of Yangzhou urban modernization is introduced. Finally, the relationship between Yangzhou culture and Yangzhou urban modernization is briefly analyzed; the second part summarizes the six characteristics of Yangzhou culture, including coexistence of opening and occlusion, the concept of harmony, the cultural atmosphere of attaching great importance to education, value orientation of both refined and popular tastes, delicacy embodied in subtle things, and the sustainable development situation. It also dialectically illustrates the positive and negative factors in Yangzhou culture through integrating the history and the theory together; the third part dissertates the promotion of Yangzhou culture to Yangzhou urban modernization from four aspects—economic development , political construction , urban construction , and social progress ; the fourth part reveals the obstruction of Yangzhou culture to Yangzhou urban modernization through illustrating the traditional business culture, leisure culture, culture of small producers and the under-developed awareness of social construction. At the same time, reasonable analysis is made by integrating with the reality; the fifth part lists the successful examples of integrating culture with urban modernization in Wenzhou, Kunshan and Changzhou and puts forward the approaches of integrating Yangzhou culture with Yangzhou urban modernization from three aspects, which includes developing modern industry, modernization of people improvement, harmonious development of urban economic and cultural construction.
