Adolescent Personality, The Use Of Online Music And Loneliness

Music online use as a favorite and enthusiastic activity of adolescent,is bound to affect their psychological and emotional experience.The impacts of music online use on adolescent are closely related to individual factors and characteristics of the internet,from the adolescents' personality and music online use to explore loneliness,which contribute to a deeper understanding of the music online use.The study is divided into two parts.In study 1,Scale for Adolescents' Use of Music Online was administrated for 261 employees in Beijing to test the construct of music online to develop a tool for study. Reseachers in this study found that,the music online use includes three dimensions of information of music, sociality through music and appreciation of music.Scale for Adolescents' Use of Music Online developed in the study indicates good reliability and validity.In study 2,a composite questionnaire was administrated for 520 employees to analyze the relations of personality,music online use and loneliness.This sudy found that,(1)the gender and the grade have the interactive effects on appreciation of music;there aren' t gender differences in information of music,sociality through music and appreciation of music;there are grade differences in the three dimensions.(2)the gender and the grade have the interactive effects on loneliness;there aren't gender differences in loneliness;there are grade differences in loneliness.(3)sociality through music is related with loneliness and the components of personality;information of music and appreciation of music are related with the components of personality. (4)extraversion,openness and grade have positive effects on information of music;agreeableness has negative effect on information of music;openness,extraversion and grade have positive effects on sociality through music;agreeableness has negative effect on sociality through music;both openness and grade have positive effects on appreciation of music,conscientiousness has negative effect on appreciation of music. (5)neuroticism has positive effect on loneliness;extraversion has negative effect on loneliness.(6) information of music has positive effect on loneliness;appreciation of music has negative effect on loneliness. (7)both information of music and sociality through music have moderator effects in relation between extraversion and loneliness;appreciation of music has moderator effect in relation between neuroticism and loneliness.The research results show that music online use has important impact on the relationship of personality and loneliness.Finally,the study pose suggestions on the overall negative attitude to internet of parents, teachers and community,which internet music online use plays active roles on the psychological development of the adolescents.
