Abstract/Summary:
Time,as a kind of significant resource, has been arousing people's greatest attention.Scholars' efforts in researching the subject of Time Management have never stopped in order to help people spend their time more scientifically and efficiently and amazing achievements have been made in this field. However, few studies have been carried out on the topic of Time Management from the perspective of personality. This paper examines the influence of personality on time management by using as subjects the students in a three-year vocational school.By means of SSPS-AS and ATMD,the study investigates the cases of 350 students and analyses the results of the investigation.Through descriptive analysis, relevant analysis and regression analysis, the findings are as follows:1.Generally speaking, the self-supporting personality of the tested subjects does not reach the level as expected. This is obvious particularly in their flexibility. There is no significant difference reflected in self-supporting personality in terms of genders, grades and majors. The difference is displayed in their social performance:(1) the first-year and the third-year subjects are more active than the second-year ones;(2) the first year subjects are more socially responsible and accessible than the second year ones;and(3) the male subjects are more socially active and accessible than the female ones.2.While the majority of the subjects can well manage their time, the priority of management is placed not equally but in order:first on the value of time, next on the efficiency and effect of time, and finally on the use of time.Their performance in how to make the best use of time and what plan should be set to achieve a goal does not reach the level as expected. The scores in these two aspects are slightly low.Specifically, the differences are displayed in the following aspects:(1) the first-year subjects and the third-year subjects value their time more than the second-year ones;(2) generally speaking, there is no significant difference among subjects in using the time in terms of genders, grades and majors. But as for the social values, the third year subjects gain higher marks than the first-year and second-year ones.(3) third-year subjects use the time much efficiently than second-year student;(4) the male subjects use the time much efficiently than the female ones.3.The study reveals that the disposition of the subjects to manage their time is inherently related to their self-supporting personality,i.e.the level of self-supporting disposition determines the level of time management, especially in terms of priority, supervision, allocation and efficiency and effect. The traits of autonomy work on the subjects' disposition to manage time far more obviously than the traits of social independence, social activeness and social sense of responsibility do.
