| The reduplication of adjectives is a very important phenomenon in Chinese, which has been widely concerned by the language study.We make the search in the field of formed reduplication. this paper discusses the reduplication from the perspective of form condition semantics and grammar.First, formed reduplication should meet the requirements as follows: original adjective and the process of reduplication. so we can exclude some other adjective reduplications such as "mangmang,shahuhu, xiaohaha,xiudada,honghonglielie."Second, although every reduplication should have its original form, not every original adjective has its reduplication form. there are some specific conditions in the perspective of semantics, construction, and syntactical functions.Third, we discuss the grammar meaning which includes three perspective:The meaning of degree. The reduplication of adjective has two degree meanings: the increase of degree and the right meaning. We choose the meaning according to the environment of the sentence.The meaning of describing. The reduplication of adjective can be much more vivid. also can describe the motions of the addresser.the meaning of initiating. The reduplication of adjective can express the meaning of initiating, but we should pay attention to the special reduplication ABAB which is followed by objective, but, we believe that these ABAB are the reduplication of verb.Last, we discuss the grammatical functions of the reduplication. Comparative to the original form, the reduplication has some limitation and some achievements. |
