Moyan is one of the Chinese contemporary writers who shows his distinctness. The memory and experience of his homeland has influnced his writing profoundly especially the series of"north east countryside of Gaomi". The north east countryside of Gaomi which used to be a geographic place in reality now became a placename in the kingdom of literature. Starting with the process of seeking for the lost spiritual homeland, the thesis have analyzed what homeland means to him and how to restrict his writing. With his double identity of peasant and writer, Moyan wanders around in his homeland wishing to find a hope from it. He tried to regard the homeland as a dependence but always found its intrinsic defect and then he has to leave with letdown. Because of the lost of spiritual homeland and crisis of"ethnic degeneration", Moyan started with his redemption and finally found it hopeless after several failure attempt. Although Moyan is to some degree pessimistic but he never give up with his hope and always trys to remain a beam of feeble light in his wroks.
