Nine black youths were accused of raping two white women at scottsboro of Alabama in March 1931.After an illegal trial,eight of them got a conviction of death penalty except the youngest one.With the participation and promotion of American Communism,the truth of the case came out.The sruggle of rescuing scottsboro boys spread in the nation and abroad.In the new trial of 1937,four of the blacks were free,and the other four were convicted and sentenced to a long jail term.It was the famous case which called Scottsboro case in 1930s.This article recount the context of this famous case.It focus on the behavior of American Communism and the International Labor Defense,which is the legal arm of the party.They grappled with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People over the right to present the Scottsboro boys'court appeals,and they appealed the convictions to the Supreme Court of the United States twice.Finally, About the relationship of Scottsboro case and American Communism,author think that they interact each other.On the one hand,Scottsboro Case affect the development of Communism and the relationship with blacks;on the other hand,the involvement of Communism also affect the development and result of the case.
