From the slogans and dapper talks in march in Jinggang Mountain Stage to Luxun Art Institution in Yan'an Stage, our party and army attached importance to literary and artistic work . Up to now, our army, from headquarter, military army commands, to grass-roots, all have their own teams to create literary and artistic works, establish strict work plans, and obtain sufficient financial assurances. All of them have constructed a good platform for developing literary and artistic work.In this background, military songs, as a literary and artistic activity with less investment, organization, wide-scope participation, own broadest mass basis. And "singing in assembling troops", was regularized as the first one of "four demands" by general political department. Both thinking highly of and needing widely military songs, stimulated the army literary and artistic wokers' enthusiasm so greatly that they had created plenty of immensely popular classics. At the same time, they launched a new exploration into singing unprecedented. This exploration cast off monotonous and simplified performing thoughts, stressed excavating and opening up every serviceman's inner world, portrayed lifelike servicemen's images, showed multiple and human aesthetic ideal as well as aesthetic pursuit, and abounded in the characteristics of age.As a music researcher who grew up in army and interested in military songs, the author chose this subject, which is not only an unshirkable duty, but also a board development space. Studying and analyzing historical origin, creation rule, together with features and functions of singing, has its own theoretical or actual value:Firstly, the author wished to give publicity to and popularize military songs in order to expand its influence. Secondly the author wished to attract more scholars and experts to study military songs. Thirdly the author wanted o improve his music accomplishment by drawing lessons from creation rules and singing features.The thesis mainly consisted of four parts:The first part sorted out and studied the historical sequence of military songs of The Chinese People's Liberation Army. The main purpose was to explore historical origin and development basis of its inner laws and features. The second part tried to classify the military songs of The Chinese People's Liberation Army, then expounded the singing features of different song respectively. It sought individualities in generalities, and summarized generalities from individualities, in order to contrast and study singing features of war songs on a comparative science basis. The third part expounded new pattern of singing military songs for studying further singing features from different singing styles and singing schools, moreover, it provided experiences and advices for numerous music researchers. The forth part studied styles, characteristics and cultural functions of military songs in new stage, and it intended to analyze basic laws from inner features, social functions and so on. So we could enquire into the positive meaning and social benefit of war songs in sociology aspect.
