As there is seldom special study on Sihai Longwang,this paper mainly analyses the concept of Longwang from its origin,evolvement,prevalence and cultural significance.ChapterⅠfocus on the origin of Longwang.Because there was no saying for Longwang in ancient times,to find out the origin,we should retrospect to the religion of Sea-god,Sihaijisi ceremony and the tales of Longshen.When Buddhism was introduced in Han&Wei Dynasty,the saying of Longwang just came out.Although it didn't give a clear explanation of Sihai Longwang in Sutra,its concept of Longwang decided the form of the concept on Chinese Sihai Longwang.ChapterⅡfocus on the evolvement of Longwang.Sihai Longwang first appeared in《太上洞渊神咒经》ChapterⅠ&Ⅲas a special word.It was said that each part of this lection finished in different periods.Most thought the two chapters were finished at the latest during the end of Eastern Jin Dynasty and the beginning of Liusong Dynasty.During the later thousands of years,the saying—"Sihai Longwang" completely disappeared.But as a notion,it was incessantly developing into maturity. The three landmark events of which are:first,the four seas were worshipped for Wangjue in Sihaijisi for the first time in Tang Dynasty;second,Longshen was worshipped for Longwang in Song Dynasty;third,it started to combine the terrain with Longwang in Yuan Dynasty.ChapterⅢexplains the figuration and prevalence of the concept of Sihai Longwang.Dramas and fiction about immortals and apparition in Yuan Dynasty and Ming Dynasty consummated and transmitted the Chinese ancient immortals system. As an important part of this system,the reappearance and prevalence of Sihai Longwang seemed ready and natural.Inditing and spreading of "Eight Immortals" story and "Journey to the West","Feng Shen Kingdoms" and other classic works made the concept of Sihai Longwang become more full-blown and be widely accepted.ChapterⅣdiscusses about the cultural significance of Sihai Longwang.To think about its root causes,Sihai Longwang was a reflection of the human world as a myth religion.It continuously added its content with the developing of the world.To speak from the specific reasons,it came up from the syncretizing of three religions.What can not be overlooked is that the concept of Yin and Yang elements with a long history also seriously influenced the forming of the concept of Sihai Longwang.
