Jian Bozan Historical Concept And Methodology Of

Historical data are all kinds of traces, material objects and literal materials that are remained or preserved in human society. They are foundation of historical research. In last century's 20-30 ages, it was the historical school that took the leading place for nearly 30 years in China history. They criticized the Marxism historians, ignoring historical data. Jian Bozan was one of the five representatives of Marxism history in China. By discussing Jian's historical data view and methodology, this thesis aims to explain that Marxism historians paid much attention on the historical data and its investigation. They attempted to make a unity of the historical viewpoints and historical data; meanwhile, they proposed their distinguishing theories and methods, which not only have positive influence on Chinese modern history, but also have enlightenment for nowadays history in China.Based on Jian's theoretical works and his achievements in history research, this study tries to make a comprehensive and systematic summary and discussion on Jian's historical data view and methodology. On the one hand, under the background of history development in China in 20th century,we promulgate the characteristics of Jian's historical data view and methodology. On the other hand, we analyze and discuss Jian's influence on the conformity of the two academic approaches in China history in 20th century and the enlightenment for the present research on history. It is hoped to offer some help on the research of Jian and also on the summary and introspection on Marxism history in China in 20th century.This thesis consists of three parts: the introduction, the body, and the conclusion. In the body, this thesis discusses Jian's historical data view and methodology in three sections. In the first section, this thesis briefly introduces Jian's academic experience and his political life, which serves as the prerequisite in understanding of the development of Jian's historical data view and methodology, summarize the significant achievements of Jian's historical theory, the research on general history, and his research on national history. In the second section, this thesis summarizes and evaluates Jian's historical data view and methodology. It is the focus of the thesis. From Jian's discussion of historical treatise relation, his commentary on literature material and ancient object material, and his historical data methodology, we summarize Jian's historical data view and methodology; at the same time, we evaluate Jian's innovation on historical data view and methodology with its rationality and limitations. In the discussion of historical treatise relation, Jian believed that it was impossible to research history without referring to history data; and the instruction of theories was important. We should combine historical data and theories together. In the statement of literal material and ancient object material, Jian made a systematical assessment on them with their different characteristics and functions. In historical data methodology, we introduce Jian's method of collecting and rearranging historical data, emphasizing his method of excavating new historical data from ancient literature works. In this way, Jian developed a new way to the history of literary theory. The third section is the appraisal of Jian's achievements on the history of historical data, discussing its influence and implications on modern history of China, as well as its significance for the present Chinese history.
