The entry of Buddhism into China is a special phenomenon in the history of cultural exchange over the world. Buddhism originated in India, then assimilated by other cultures, becoming popular in the South-Asia countries and the East-Asia countries, taking kinds of characteristic. The spread of Buddhism into China endured for a long time, which was an exchange between ancient China and foreign culture by all society estates with peaceful means. This article chooses two cases in the history of Chinese Buddhism and analyzes the period and character of the spread of Buddhism into China, so as to discuss the feature of the early Chinese Buddhism.Along the clue of time, the text mainly discuss about the entry of Buddhism into China in Dynasty of Han, Wei, Jin. In order to draw the outline of the development of Buddhism in China, the author divides into two periods and takes Dharmaraksa and Kumarajiva for examples. In comparison to two persons in the fields of learning, translation and so on, the author concludes that this two persons have learned and grown up aboard, after arriving to China, they translated the Buddhist scriptures into Chinese, in this process certainly with two different culture's collision and integration.As to geographical factors, this text discusses from the point of the zone of the culture's spread and draws three sections namely foreign region, middle region and zhongyuan region. India was the primitive origin of Buddhism, the West Alley playing a role of bridge between India and zhongyuan region. In the end, Buddhism intermingled with Confuciusim and Daoism, integrated into Chinese dominant culture. Chang An played an important role in the development of Buddhism's chinesization.Along the clue of time and region, by comparisons with Dharmaraksa and Kumarajiva, this article compared two profound persons in the history of Buddhism, regarding their learning and translation of scripture experience. In the end, the author concludes that the character and law of the spread of Buddhism in china from Han Dynasty to Wei and Jin period.
