Prototype Shen Congwen Girl Image

In Shen Cong Wen's novels, we ofen come across lovely girls images, such as CuiCui, SanSan, XiaoXiao and YaoYao. These girls images are deeply loved by readers, at the same time , they also make readers confused—why these girls images are so similar? why these girls images have such close relationship whit water?Carl Gustav Jung thought that the essential function of art is to show Collective Unconsciousness and Archetypes to readers. According to Jung's theory , we can get a conclusion that the archetype of Anima had an effect on Shen Cong Wen's works, Anima is the deep-seated factor that makes the girls images so similar. At the same time ,the relationship between the girls images and water also can be explained by the archetype of Human Reproduction. This thesis will illuminate these conclusions from the following three aspects.The first aspect try to illuminate why the girls images in Shen Cong Wen's novels are so similar by making a connection between Jung's theories and Shen Cong Wen's works. The second aspect try to explain the relationship between the girls images and water ,this aspect also explains the fishes and the caves that appear in Shen Cong Wen's novels. The third aspect give out a simple explanation to the family of the girls and the workshops in Shen Cong Wen's novels. According to this kind of illumination, this thesis try to offer a new approach for readers to enjoy Shen Cong Wen's works better.
