In the meaning, the comparative sentences of this thesis connote that the things arerelative superiority or inferiority, good or bad, fight or wrong, and the situations aregained or lost. In the form, the comparative sentences consist of two or three aspects, including comparative objects(both sides or rnore),comparative words(verbs, prepositionsand so on),and comparative result. Following the traditional classification on the basis ofmeaning and combing the features of comparative sentences in ShiShuoXinYu, we dividethem into four comparative types: equal comparison, unequal comparison, generalcomparison, and superlative comparison. The thesis comprises five chapters in addition to concluding remarks.Themain contents are as follows:Chapter One is the introduction, which briefly introduces the purpose of research andsignificance, rationale and research methods, the sources of corpus and symbolexplaination, the situation of relative research. From Chapter Two to Chapter Five, we describe equal comparison, unequalcomparison, general comparison, and superlative comparison in ShiShuoXinYurespectively.According to different comparative words, we divide equal comparison inShiShuoXinYu into "bi"(比) as verb-sentence, "ru"(如)-sentence, similar and differentadjectival equal comparison, and discuss disappearance of "yu" in "bi"(比) asverb-sentence, "fang"(方)-sentence, the change of structure in "(x) w ru(如) y", thesource of "(x) ru (如)y w" and so on.On the basis of syntactic characteristics, we divide unequal comparison intopositive unequal comparison and negative unequal comparison. In the positiveunequal comparison, we depict three types: "yu" (于)-sentence, the verb meaningunequal-sentence, unequal comparison used intensifier, and discuss the change ofthe role of "yu" and positive semantic feature of "yu "(于)-sentence. With regardto negative unequal comparison, we describe and analyze their syntactic structures, and probe their positive semantic feature. We analyze two types in the general comparison: interrogative general comparisonand "bi" (比)-sentence, and expound that "he ru"(何如)-sentence meaning comparisonreplaces "shu"(孰)-sentence, and "bi" in "bi" (比)-sentence hasn't been grammaticalized, and "x bi(比)y w" is still a serial structure. We divide superlative comparison into two types: using intensifier to expresssuperlative relation and "x mo(莫)w". In ShiShuoXinYu, superlative relation is mostlyconveyed by intensifier, and "x mo(莫)w" form rarely arises.Concluding remarks summarize the whole thesis, put forward the task thatwe should focus on in the future and point out the deficiencies of this thesis..
