Jirem Place Names Study

Geographic name is not only one kind of national cultural phenomenon, butalso a historical production, which has a strong stability and nature of basis, and canreally reflect the appearance of the society and history in that locality to some extent.The research of geographic name, not only relate to the language of nation, but alsorelate to the various factors of the history, society, culture, and custom of nationality,is an important constituent part of national cultural research.The Zhirim's geographic name, which content is abundant, can reflect thenatural geography characteristics of the Horqin region, and also can reflect HorqinMongolian history and culture simultaneously. Studying the Zhirim's geographicname, we can know about the natural environments, geography characteristics,resources in Horqin region and Horqin people's living changes, customs, religiousbeliefs and so on. This paper analyzed the structure and content of Zhirim'sgeographic name, in the meantime, combined it with Horqin's history and culture,dug out its cultural connotation, finally talked about distortion problem of Zhirim'sgeographic name shortly.
