Idiom. "zhuangzi" Study

Each nation has its own unique national culture. After the historical deposition, this kind of characteristic about national culture retains in the lexical stratification in which the idiom is the most special part. Chinese idioms hold the important status in the evolution of the Chinese. During the pre-Qin period, many schools contended in the area of thoughts. They created many works to spread their thoughts which left behind hundreds of idioms to later generations. Among those works, Zhuangzi had the significant influence and left behind 172 idioms to the later generations. This paper takes Zhuang-zi as the breakthrough point, attempts to grasp the characteristic of the idioms in Zhuangzi and tries to know the idiom appearance of pre-Qin period through the analysis of the idioms in Zhuangzi.The first part is an introduction which analyzes present situation in the research of idioms and explains the reason why the topic is selected.The second part is the base for the paper writing. It clarifies the pertinent concept about the research, confirms the standard of material selection and proposes the method in paper research.The third part is classification of the idioms in Zhuangzi. This part classifies the idioms from four aspects--stereotyped method, source, significance and the rhetoric. It demonstrates the characteristic of the idioms in Zhuangzi from different angles through the illustrations and analysis.The fourth part is characteristic of the idioms in Zhuangzi. The idioms in Zhuangzi take four words as the main form, melt the technicality and literariness in real and widespread images, both manifest the thought in Zhuangzi and keep massive characteristics of the ancient Chinese in pre-Qin period. This part is the summary based on the analysis of part three and is the emphasis for the paper writing.The fifth part is the reason why the idioms in Zhuangzi are so rich. The formation of the characteristics of idioms in Zhuangzi is not accidental. It must be created in the pre-Qin period in which the society and the language had both developed .Only this environment can exert an edifying influence on ZhuangZi and younger generations who could create so many idioms which enjoy great popularity and form the unique angle of society and the artistic style. This part is the further explanation and summary of the paper writing.The sixth part is the influence of the idioms in Zhuangzi. The idioms inherit down many characteristics of the Chinese from the ancient time. So the idioms in Zhuangzi keep massive characteristics of the ancient Chinese in the pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar.Conclusion: As the most succinct form of the thought and the wisdom of Zhuangzi, the idioms connect vulgarly form and elegant connotation and rerepresent the rich embodiment of Zhuangzi vividly and profoundly with the medium of images and the aid of rhetoric devices as methods.
