A Research To The Image And The Meaning Of The Zhuangzi Fable

Up to now, fable research in Zhuangzi studies has not been put forward alone, norbeen paid special attention--though it is involved much actually, while the traditionalZhuangzi studies concentrates on such aspects as commentary, confirmation and exegesis mainly, adopting the angles of literature, linguistics and philosophy. This thesis concentrates on the studies of Zhuangzi fable, it goes to three parts: the definition;the characteristic of the fable image and its mythological origin;the classification and the characteristic of meaning of the fable.Part one, the definition of Zhuangzi fable. According to the modern definition of "Fable", it can be easily to distinguish the fable from image and example . but return to the pre-Qin period, the fable is far from the single, or purely literary style. In" Zhuangzi ", Yuyan, Zhongyan and Zhiyan are mixed up and can not been seperated clearly. The standard of the fable asserted in this thesis is that fables according with modern definition take the first priority;absorbing the "Zhongyan" part;rejecting the imagery from the fable. Under the guidance of this standard, this thesis will divide definitely piece by piece " Zhuangzi" fable.Part two, the image research of Zhuangzi fable. The Zhuangzi fable has portrayed numerous distinct and vivid images which each have its own characteristics. This thesis will make a systematic analysis of the image's characteristic of the Zhuangzi fable according to two major images classification: personages, animals & plants & inanimate objects. In addition, considering the obsorbing from the mythical legend images in ancient times, the author is making a research after to the mythology and prototype factor of such images of the fable as Kun's roc, Chaos, big wood, bird, and extraordinary person on the basis of absorbing latest academic research results.Part three, researching the meaning of the Zhuangzi fable. Generally, fables in "Zhuangzi" have the same meaning , expressing "Dao" philosophically, though it was created by different people in different times. Considering the differences in characteristics of the contents, the thoughts and attitudes, the meaning of the fable can be concluded and narrated by demonstration, satire and thoughts of life. In addition to theclassification of the meaning, the angles of the synonym and the ambiguity will be involving into the research.In conclusion, the system research to the image and the meaning of the Zhuangzi fable is on the basis of fine understanding and analysing to the text and absorbing latest academic research results.
