Four Seasons Zen Rhyme, The Cycle Of Life

Buddhism is an experience. And Zen is the purest essence of all the Buddha' s education. Zen enables people to perceive the essence of everything and gain unlimited wisdom. The revelation of Zen for art is the importance of breaking obsessions, nurturing mind and perception of essence. If an artist can reach this level, he obtains pure freedom. He will lose the method and acquire the method again. It is because the artists demonstrate their uniqueness and his own self that the art of Zen has the unparallel charisma.Modern jewelry is the carrier of modern art, to express the essence of the times and interpret the artist' s feeling and understanding of uniqueness. In China, modern jewelry design is in the ascendant. The mission that Chinese jewelry designers face is how to let modern jewelry to break through the traditional material concept and sublimate to a higher spiritual level to satisfy the spiritual needs of people in modern society.This thesis consists of four parts. The first part is to expatiate the relationshipbetween Zen and art and Zen' s influence on art which leads to the theoretical basisof the possibility of the combination of Zen and art. The second part is to expatiatethe concept of modern jewelry design and compare the current situation of developmentof jewelry in eastern and western countries in order to discover the possibility andessentiality of the combination of the spirit of Zen and modern jewelry design. Thethird part is to discover the specific ways of combination of Zen and modern jewelrydesign by analyzing the creating process of my graduation jewelry design work "hui" .The last part is to conclude the research proposition and find out the meaning ofpresenting the concept of jewelry with Zen spirit in the background of modern life.The thesis discusses the similarities between Zen and art step by step and revealsthe relationship between Zen in Buddhism and modern jewelry design in order to absorband apply the spirit of Zen to modern art, which offers a new perspective for thediversified ideas of modern art design.
