Results Complement May Type "v Have / Not C," And Its Asymmetry

This research object of the paper is the possible type of result complement "V de/bu C" and its asymmetrical phenomena. Based on the analysis of language data, the paper investigates the asymmetrical phenomena of "V de C" and "V bu C", and discusses the reason of these asymmetrical phenomena. It divides into 5 chapters:Chapter 1 Introduction: This part introduces the purpose and significance, the scope and object of the research, the theoretical basis and research method, and the source of language data. A detailed literature review is also made, including the current research on "V de/bu C" and the existent problems.Chapter 2 The semantic characteristic investigation of "V de/bu C": This part starts by analyzing the form of"V"and"C"in corpus. Then, by respectively investigating the semantic feature of "V" and "C", we find out that "V" has [autonomy], and "C" has [goal]. And then, by investigating the semantic characteristic of "V de/bu C" both form semantic relation and semantic structure, it educes that the semantic relation of "V de/bu C" is cause and effect and the semantic structure has 3 kinds of condition: one-way, two-ways and three-ways.Chapter 3 The asymmetrical investigation of "V de C" and "V bu C"(one): This part, we investigate the asymmetrical phenomena .of "V de C" and "V bu C" at synchronic level. There mainly are four aspects of difference: Frequency, distribution, configuration, and the form of affirmative and negative in the possible category.Chapter 4 The asymmetrical investigation of "V de C" and "V bu C"(two): This part, we investigate the asymmetrical phenomena .of "V de C" and "V bu C" at diachronic level. There mainly are two aspects of difference: The form time in history and the degree of grammaticalization. We deem that the asymmetrical phenomena at diachronic level are one of the reasons that cause the asymmetrical phenomena at synchronic level.Chapter 5 The integration explanation of asymmetrical phenomena: This part explains the various asymmetrical phenomena .of "V de C" and "V bu C" by means of the conceptual integration theory. We deem that the development of "V bu C" is inevitable, but the development of "V de C" needs context and is restricted by other conditions. This difference causes the asymmetrical phenomena .of "V de C" and "V bu C" radically.
