She insists on writing about the homeland and the people living at the bottom and pays attention to the survival and life of those people and explores their hopes. She makes her novels peculiarly fascinating by her care and love for nature, respect for life and praise for humanity. The author carries out a multidimensional analysis of the works of Chi Zijian and looks deeper into the inner side of them from the perspective of thematology. The paper consists of four parts in all.In the first part, the author analyzes the descriptions about people's sufferings in the novels in terms of physical, psychological and human aspects step by step. Due to the influence of environment and war, people experience sufferings both in physiology and psychology. The poor in material and depression combine to make their life extremely hard. And Chi Zijian reveals the root of sufferings from the deeper level of humanity and makes the cruel reality exposed to us by sorrowful but calm description.In the second part, the author describes the emotion of loneliness and solitude of people living in dailylife. In the hard life, their feel the solitude and dissepiment. Chi Zijian writes about it from two aspects: children becoming alien from others in solitude and adults becoming sensitive and fragile in estrangement. Therefore, solitude becomes a kind of life portray about reality, a kind of attention to human's survival. It initiates people's contemplation and exploration about the future of society, life meaning, life value and human fates.In the third part, the author analyzes the expression and experience of death in Chi's novels. Chi is deeply influenced by the peculiar local culture, especially the religion of Shamanism. In her articles, death is holy and pure. She believes that soul indeed exists and human can communicate with it, death is just a kind of form, it's more like surmounting and purification. Her articles appear more profound between human and soul and between life and death, serving as a foil to the hardship of life.In the last part, the author analyzes the expression of love and transcendence in Chi's novels. Love is expressed in three forms: love (between man and woman); affection between family members; friendship. However, hidden behind the three forms is a more important affection, that is, her high praise for the subject spirit. In her opinion, only through constant self-perfection and intense sense of responsibility can human beings transcend themselves and hard life and then get more beautiful and permanent survival. |
