| In order to foster a person with moral character, it is essential to study the psychological factors that character bases on and the interrelationship between them. Also should be studied is the law of its structure. Therefore, character structure has become an essential field of ethical education. From sprout to maturity, the development of character structure is dynamic and it is meaningful for ethical education to discuss its impetus. Researches in the past tended to be static; however, it is impetus that simply promotes the establishment and development of character structure. Exploration of dynamic factors and demonstration of dynamic mechanisms is indispensable for research of character psychology. The paper advocates that various dynamic factors or conditions that influence the establishment and development of character structure compose an organic and integrated dynamic structure—a three-driving spiral dynamic structure—which is like the spiral structure of DNA. The three-driving chains are consisted of instinctive driver and social and cultural driver. What connects the two chains is ethical knowledge, ethical emotion, ethical will and ethical act. The two chains are two contradictory aspects, and they promote the establishment of character psychology. In practice, then, the need of ethics arises, so do ethical factors such as ethical knowledge, emotion, will and act, which are also dynamic factors of the whole structure. The character structure is developing, dynamic and unbalanced; therefore, the whole structure develops spirally and the quality of character factors improves continuously. The three-driving spiral dynamic structure of character development enlightens us that it is necessary and important to form an integrated and harmonious ethical education model. Active ethical education should be integrated with social ethical education, the four aspects of which, ethical knowledge, emotion, will and act, should be equally treated. It is advisable to establish a practical ethical education model. |
