Integrating the historic research method into the logical research method, the current research has performed a longitudinal study on the development of stage peacock after the foundation of the PRC, and also analysis and researches on its historical inheritance and changes in order to find out the right way for the Chinese folk dances.The current research includes three parts, the preface, the main chapters and the conclusion. The introduction has mainly explained the research aims, literature review and the employed research methods. Chapter I mainly explains the origin of the traditional peacock dance, the forms of the peacock dance and its aesthetic implication in the DAI society from the cultural perspective, and then analyze the different periods of peacock dance during which it transits from the folk dance to the stage dance. Chapter II mainly performs the research its developing situation on the stage, trying to find out the main clues and also analyzing its features, understanding its essence to find out the malpractices in the dance creation. Chapter III has summarized its changing rules, analyzed the factors resulting in the variations including the social factors, external factors, the cultural factors of the Dai national minority and the Dai dance itself. Simultaneously, the research also analyzes the inheritance from the traditional dances on different levels from the perspective of the art and the culture. The conclusion mainly presents us a brief historical appraisalto the peacock dance and also the inspiration on the folk dance creation for nationalities.
