The Latter Half Of The Twentieth Century Xun Studies

The studies of XunZi in the later half of the 20th century is an important part of the academic-ideology in the 20th century. However, it has not been paid enough attention by people. Until now, there was no monograph published about the studies of XunZi and correlative thesis on it could be counted on fingers. Therefore, this article first analyzes some representative academic books in the later half of the 20th century, and summarizes some characteristics and disciplines based on the summary of the studies of XunZi in the later half of the 20th century.This paper includes four chapters. The first three chapters divide the later half of the 20th century into three phases which are the first phase(from 1945 to 1965), the second phase(from 1966 to 1976) and the third phase(from 1977 to 1999). The first three chapters choose the representative works in three phases and analyze the characteristics of the studies of XunZi in three phases, and summarize how the studies of XunZi was influenced in three different phases. The last chapter studies the characteristics of the studies of Xunzi in the later half of the 20th century by scholars in Hong Kong and Taiwan and compares it with the scholars in the mainland.In this article, the author has some new viewpoints. The studies of XunZi in the later half of the 20th century were closely related to the thought of the times. When Marxism was recommended, the intellectuals of Marxism found that there were some dialectic ingredients in XunZi's thoughts. And the following research accelerated the studies of XunZi in the later half of the 20th century. During the Great Cultural Revolution, the studies of XunZi was mainly studied in the perspective of the politics and XunZi was praised as the representative of Legalist School. After the Great Cultural Revolution, the academic field makes some corrections to the thoughts of XunZi. Some scholars make the research of attributes and limitations and people begin to think over the thoughts of XunZi. In the 1990s' , with the emergence of traditional culture trend, some works focused on the realityrelations of XunZi and the contemporary society are published and set off a upsurge of construction of XunZi. In this phase, the studies of XunZi in Hong Kong and Taiwan are relatively stable because of the little influence of politics.The studies of XunZi in the later half of the 20th century make the great achievements. In the terms of the righteous and reason of the studies of XunZi, Marxims created the new ways of the studies of XunZi. On the basis of the above research, the studies of XunZi develop, especially in the perspective of the studies of XunZi. The studies of XunZi only used to pay attention to the universe viewpoint, the epistemology and political thoughts. Now it makes great progress by studying the ecological thoughts, folk custom thoughts, thoughts of communication and social administration.
