The diplomacy of revising commercial treaty of the Great Britain to China in 1902 was one of the important events of the early 20th century, which had triggered an intense struggle between big Powers. Through negotiations, the Great Britain and China signed the Mackay Treaty. This paper aims to discuss the background of the change of the Great Britain international position and the dominant position in China, to recall the struggle between big Powers, to understand the uniqueness of the treaty, to explore the impact on the parties.There are three main parts in the thesis:The first part introduces the Great Britain dominant position in the middle period of the 19th century. Britain interests in China was challenged by other Powers,the Great Britain was forced to adjust its policy towards China.. The second part discusses the causes of the revising commercial treaty, discusses the contents of the negotiations, discusses the process of the negotiations. I think that the Great Britain was not satisfied with the policy adjustment towards China, it re-introduced to the interests of the economic policy towards China.The third part explores the influence of the event.The Great Britain was forced to adjust its policy towards China, the diplomatic activity in 1902 had little effect, the Great Britain could not decide the invasion of China by Powers alone any more.
