Alban Berg's Violin Concerto, the last complete work of the Austrian composer, is one of the most prominent works in the 20th century. In this thesis, the author gives a synthetic analysis of the work in an overall aspect. The thesis consists of five chapters: in Chapter One, the historical-social environment Berg faced, the compositional background and process are introduced; Chapter Two, the music synthetic analysis of the unique row; Chapter Three is about the schematic identification of thematic materials and descriptive procession of the concerto; Chapter four is concerned with the numerology; in Chapter Five, the programmatic and humanistic meanings of the work will be interpreted on the basis of the preceding discussions.Berg's Violin Concerto is proved to be a masterpiece mingled with twelve-note techniques and tonal languages. In its style, it even includes the music elements of the romanticism.
